Dear Georgetown Families,
The district recently conducted water testing for lead in our school as required by a new state law passed in January 2017. Test results showed that two sinks and three water fountains tested above the state's new allowable level of 5 parts per billion. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's allowable level is 15 parts per billion. The water fountains tested at 6.58, 7.47 and 15.6 parts per billion. The sinks tested at 6.97 and 5.58 parts per billion.
Upon receiving the results, custodial staff shut off fountains so drinking water would not be available at those locations. Both the sink faucets and water fountains will be replaced in the next two weeks.
Complete test results are available at the link below. For more information, visit the Environmental Protection Agency's website.
